Gilat Secures $32 Million U.S. Defense Contract for Multi-Band DKET Systems

by BDI Editorial Staff

Gilat Satellite Networks has secured a contract worth more than $32 million from the U.S. Department of War for the supply of multi-band Deployable Ku-band Earth Terminal (DKET) systems designed to support resilient military communications.

The order, received by Gilat DataPath, covers DKET systems capable of operating across Ku-, Ka- and X-band satellite networks. Deliveries are expected to take place over the next 12 months.

The latest contract expands Gilat DataPath’s established involvement in DKET programmes and strengthens the company’s position in larger U.S. defence communications programmes requiring rapidly deployable and reliable connectivity.

Transportable Systems for Mission-Critical Communications

The DKET systems are designed to be transported and deployed rapidly at alternative locations, allowing defence users to establish or restore high-capacity communications when conventional infrastructure is unavailable, disrupted or needs to be relocated.

Such mobile satellite ground infrastructure can play an important role in maintaining communications continuity in changing operational environments.

Nicole Robinson, President of Gilat DataPath, said the contract reflects the growing importance of relocatable communications infrastructure for modern defence operations.

She highlighted the ability to rapidly establish and maintain connectivity as an increasingly important requirement for military users operating in demanding and geographically dispersed environments.

Supporting Resilient Military Networks

The multi-band capability of the DKET platforms gives users greater flexibility in accessing different satellite networks and communication architectures. This can help defence organisations maintain connectivity and adapt communications infrastructure according to operational requirements.

For Gilat Defense, the contract further expands its involvement in military satellite communications and resilient defence networking, while supporting its broader activities across U.S. and allied defence markets.

The award also comes as defence organisations increasingly focus on communications resilience, mobility and the ability to rapidly restore connectivity during disrupted or contested operating conditions.

Gilat said the latest order demonstrates its continued ability to provide transportable satellite communication solutions for mission-critical defence applications.
