L3Harris Signs Agreement With CTM for Tactical Communications Production in Poland

by BDI Editorial Staff

L3Harris Technologies and Ośrodek Badawczo-Rozwojowy Centrum Techniki Morskiej S.A. (CTM), a member of Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) covering potential in-country production of the Polish WIDMO Combat Team Radio.

The agreement builds on an earlier cooperation agreement signed in 2023 and represents another step in industrial cooperation between L3Harris and Poland’s defence industry.

L3Harris said its international network of facilities supports regional customers while drawing on the company’s wider technology and innovation capabilities.

“Agreements like this create lasting value by deepening collaboration with local industry, growing the skilled workforce and strengthening sovereign defense capabilities,” said Christopher Aebli, President, Communications & Spectrum Dominance, L3Harris.

WIDMO Combat Team Radio

The WIDMO is a software-defined communications system designed to provide resilient communications for dismounted soldiers.

According to L3Harris, the system is interoperable with systems across Polish land and airborne platforms and enables network extension of Poland’s Battle Management Systems.

L3Harris said it has delivered more than 30,000 radio systems to Ukraine, with its solutions being used in combat.

The company said this experience demonstrates the reliability and resilience of its communications systems against electronic warfare threats.

Supporting Poland’s Defence Industry

L3Harris currently has more than 12,500 radio systems in service across Poland, according to the company.

“We are proud of the legacy we have built in supporting the Polish Armed Forces, with over 12,500 radio systems currently in service across the nation,” said Magdalena Radzyminski, Regional Managing Director, L3Harris.

She added that the company intends to expand its support through local production and continue contributing to Poland’s defence and industrial capabilities.

L3Harris provides communications systems to Poland and other NATO allies. Its portfolio includes software-defined radios certified for communications up to NATO Secret and capable of operating the European Secure Software Defined Radio (ESSOR) waveform.

The company said its communications technology provides interoperability with key platforms, while its high-volume production capabilities are intended to support timely deliveries to the Polish Armed Forces as the country expands its military force to 300,000 troops.
