Robin Radar Systems Expands U.S. Presence with New Northern Virginia Operations Centre

Robin Radar Systems has expanded its U.S. operations with the opening of a larger facility in Northern Virginia, as demand for drone detection and counter-UAS technologies continues to grow across North America and other global markets.

Officially opened on August 26, the new operations centre will provide additional capacity for Robin Radar’s growing U.S. activities and support 20 additional roles. The facility is intended to strengthen the company’s local presence and enable closer engagement with customers and partners across the government, defence and national security sectors.

The opening brought together representatives from government and industry, including H.E. Birgitta Tazelaar, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the United States, and Ben Wenger, CRO of Dedrone by Axon.

“Robin Radar builds world-class Dutch technology, and we are proud to see that technology growing here. This new expansion is a tangible investment in the US, in partnerships, and in the transatlantic relationship. Alliances are not only signed in capitals. They are strengthened through investments like this one, bringing Dutch engineering and American talent together,” said H.E. Birgitta Tazelaar.

Rising Demand for Drone Detection

Robin Radar said demand for drone detection is increasing across government, defence, law enforcement and critical infrastructure markets worldwide. The company reported 60% year-over-year growth over the past three years.

Its U.S. business has also recorded strong growth. During the first half of 2026, Robin Radar sold 75% more IRIS drone radars compared with the first half of 2025. The company also signed its largest U.S. deal to date with a close partner and established C-UAS integrator, supporting both Federal and State, Local, Territorial and Tribal (SLTT) customers.

More than 30 IRIS radars were deployed across North America during security operations supporting the FIFA World Cup 2026. The systems provided airspace awareness for U.S. Government and SLTT customers. Robin Radar said the deployment represented one of the largest operational uses of IRIS to date.

The company said the development of the U.S. counter-UAS and airspace security market is being influenced by operational experience from recent conflicts, including Ukraine. This experience is informing procurement requirements and increasing attention on systems capable of detecting, tracking and classifying different types of targets in complex operational environments.

Building a Long-Term U.S. Presence

Northern Virginia was selected for Robin Radar’s new operations centre because of its strategic location, established defence ecosystem and alignment with the company’s long-term U.S. investment plans.

“We don’t want Robin Radar to be a Dutch company that occasionally sells some radars in America. We want to become part of the American security ecosystem. That means being here, hiring here, supporting our customers here, working with American companies and ultimately building more of our capability here. As our U.S. business grows, we want to be close to our customers and have the people and infrastructure in place to support them. This new facility is an important step in strengthening our presence in North America and building Robin Radar’s future in the United States,” said Siete Hamminga, CEO of Robin Radar Systems.

The company said the investment reflects its commitment to the U.S. market as deployments increase and customer requirements continue to evolve. The expanded local presence is intended to provide support throughout the customer lifecycle, from evaluation and deployment through ongoing operations.
